Engineered Retaining Walls & Residential Site Development

Project Scope: Five Retaining Walls, Excavation, Drainage & Site Preparation
Working with GeoPacific's design and drainage guidance, First Tracks incorporated geogrid reinforcement and four-inch drainage pipe into the retaining wall construction.
A four-tonne excavator equipped with a specialized block pickup clamp was used to position the Barkman retaining wall blocks.
Throughout the approximately three-month construction period, our team maintained driveway access for the homeowner while completing excavation and wall installation. Irrigation work was completed following the retaining wall construction.

Five retaining walls totalling 280 linear feet
Largest wall: 100 feet long × 10 feet high
Additional walls: two at 60 × 5 feet, one at 45 × 6 feet and one at 15 × 6 feet

First Tracks Contracting played an extensive role in the excavation and civil site development of Caban Residences, a six-storey, mixed-use development by Cressey Developments in Kelowna.
Over approximately 26 months, our team completed multiple phases of excavation, site preparation and civil infrastructure, hauling approximately 13,000 cubic metres of soil and organic material off-site.
With excavations reaching depths of approximately three metres, the project required groundwater management alongside a specialized contractor, coordination with piling and forming crews, and precise preparation for structural foundations.
Our work included exposing grout-pile tops for cutting, crushing removed pile sections on-site, and coordinating excavation around the installation of earth-formed footings.
Beyond excavation, First Tracks completed structural fill and compaction, drainage, underground power, water and sewer servicing, final grading and landscape preparation.
Working alongside Cressey Developments, Rush Contracting, GeoPacific and Quorum Survey, our team supported the project through successive stages of construction.
